We love summer and do feel a litle short changed this year. Oh well.... We did thoroughly enjoy the bounty of local farms and markets throughout the season and of course even now as we move into fall there is still a nice range of produce to enjoy. We are fans of the late tomato crop although catching a perfect fruit at its peak is increasingly tricky. Our Global Tastes with Local Produce Dinner was very well received and it seems we managed to not make a mess of the lovely produce we managed to find.

Last month we went to South America and a great tropical feast with Tastes of Brazil. The European derivation of many foods, of course centred on Portugal, transformed through use of the local exotic fruit and vegetables is a delight. Add to this the excellent musical soundtrack of the country and it became a great choice for the last of the hot summer days. September is Chile! In more ways than one...

At the start of summer we introduced espresso and single origin coffees from Ceremony Roasters in Annapolis, augmenting our offerings from local micro-roaster 19 Coffee and Intelligentsia. Ceremony were at one point known as Caffe Pronto but have grown and rebranded while still maintaining an artisan approach to their coffee. The Mass Appeal espresso blend is an interesting alternative to our standard Black Cat Analog espresso. We like what we have seen so far so look out for more from them over the course of the next few months.
