Monthly Dinner - Tastes of Greece

Our country them for November is Greece. This will guide the Sunday brunch themes and the end of the month dinner which slips into December because of Thanksgiving weekend. We did Greece a couple of years ago and had a great time so having received some requests for a repeat, we are....

Dinner kicks off with a complimentary cocktail and appetizers at 7.00pm with seating for the meal starting at 7.30pm. As usual we will serve a multi-course fixed menu. For examples of previous dinners, please visit the Orbis Caffe on Facebook.

Cost is $40 per person. BYOB encouraged.

Monthly Dinner - Tastes of Cambodia

Our country them for October is Cambodia with the end of the month dinner slippig into November. As one would expect the flavors fall into the continum of Thai and Chinese which is fine by us.

Dinner kicks off with a complimentary cocktail at 7.00pm with seating for the small plate fixed menu starting at 7.30pm.

Monthly Dinner - Tastes of Iran

We will be exploring the interesting and diverse array of flavors and foods from Iran this month. Iran and Persia are often used interchangeably but strictly speaking although the Persian empire was perhaps the largest in history, Persia or Persa is today only one of the regions within Iran. As the styles and flow of ingredients through regions is always fluid and hence borders on food are less distinct than borders of countries, we will focus as usual on flavors and dishes of the broader country without too much concern for whether one might call a dish Persian or not.

For many people the thought of British food conjures up horror; a bland meal of overcooked meat and veg, or at best an homage to pub grub: tasty but unimaginative. Overcoming this is the challenge we took on when we selected this theme this month and we predict and hope that guests will be pleasantly surprised. The bland options that represent British cuisine are similar to the boring meals made in average household in many cultures and not the rich potential of the country's history.

Monthly Dinner - Tastes of Spain

Our monthly dinner is a week earlier than usual this month to accomodate a big birthday bash the following weekend. This is the first time we are repeating a country in two and a half years of Orbis being around. The last time we toured through Spanish flavors and cuisine our format for the dinner was very different and we are excited to give it another go!
